This summer, I got to take a photography class. It pushed me outside of my box and I loved every minute of it! I was able to notice a connection difference between my personal work and my commissioned work. My personal work showed real connections and raw moments and emotions. I'm not ashamed - I definitely ice-cream-bribe my kiddos for a cheese-at-the-camera smile every now and then but most of it is turning their everyday moments into art. Those images that capture their organic joy, true spirits, and the love they share are usually the images that take my breath away.
I know as a momma, these are the things we want to smile back on. One day, when we've finished helping our youngest unpack their dorm room, we are going to want to look back at these images and remember . . . . . Remember the way our son twirled a little strand of our hair when he was nervous. Remember the way our daughter looked intently at her daddy when he told that bear story. Remember the way our baby always belly laughed when his sister puffed her cheeks out.
